William Samuel: American Jnani?

William Samuel: American Jnani?
I first heard about William Samuel from my teacher, Francis Lucille. He had visited with Samuel and, at one of his retreats, a a rare copy of a live video of Samuel was available. It was impressive.
The Story of William Samuel is unique in the history of American teachers of non duality.
A humble, unpretentious man, Samuel was raised in the rural Alabama. The son of a Christian Scientist mother and a Jewish father, William Samuel's rigorous upbringing included lots of traditional Christian church and strictly enforced academics. A quiet and reserved boy, Samuel entered the military at age 18 and was sent to China as a Captain in the infantry.
While fighting the Japanese, Samuel had a venerated Taoist monk as a translator. As time passed, the translator became Samuel's spiritual teacher, guide and friend.
After the World War II, Samuel travelled the world, crossing the globe twice in search of Wisdom including trips to India and the Orient.
He also served in the Korean War, fathered three children and began writing while acting as the proprietor of a small bakery and restaurant in Birmingham, Alabama. It was here that he wrote his first book, a short affair of 60 pages entitled, Two Plus Two equals Reality.
By 1970, William Samuel had completed two more major works, A Guide to Awareness and Tranquility along with the companion book entitled The Awareness of Self Discovery. His books are gems of plain talk without the familiar venacular of advaita so common to the current scene. In it's place is a common man's clarity on the Great Truth.
As our way of introducing you, we offer to you a free excerpt from his journal, entitled, "The Child Within." You may wish to visit his website at www.williamsamuel.com run by the always friendly Sandy Jones.
